Rachel Whiteread Tate Britain

Doors

I find Rachel Whiteread’s work haunting and atmospheric. I had seen her work in the past as always in shades of grey so to see the glowing colour of resin used in “100 places” for example was illuminating. The idea of using negative space to become the positive is sometimes difficult to grasp – every indentation is a protrusion and vice versa.

I found the cast doors very interesting as they gave to me the idea of aging and the past, like a relic or an artifact found on an archaeological dig.
